What Motivates Joey Madigan

Here is an interview with Joey Madigan about what Motivates him, the goals he has for himself and some advice he can offer to help you feel better about yourself, your motivation and your goals.  Joey Madigan is a masons’ helper that works at Glass Block Warehouse, LLC in Palm City Florida.  He is a gym enthusiast, a family man and a total goof ball (which is why he is so much fun to be around).  He works super hard to be the best version of himself and his family loves him and supports how amazing he is to all of us (Yes he is my family, he is my cousin).  Hope you enjoy hearing about what Joey has to say about what motivates him and what his goals are.

What Motivates Joey

  • Joey says, “To be better at life and try hard every day to push myself through the toughest of goals I personally set for myself.”

Do you do anything on a regular basis that you think makes you a better person?

  •  Joey says, “I work out everyday to make me feel better about myself.  I also take the time to help others who want to work out to better themselves as well .”

What are some of your daily goals?

  • Joey says, “To work out everyday, excel at my job and be with and help out my family.”

What are some of your weekly goals?

  • Joey says, “Just to get through the week, and do my best to be a good person, and work hard.”

What are some of your Monthly goals?

  • Joey says, “To get a little bit further in life than I was the month before.”

What are some of your yearly goals?

  • Joey says, “To save money to buy a house one day, to work towards a promotion at work, to better myself and never give up on working out.”

What advice can you give to others about staying motivated and setting goals?

  • Joey says, “Take it day by day and work on it and if you keep your head up and work towards whatever it is that you want, you will get it.

Final notes:

“If you want to be the best version of yourself, you have to be confident in yourself and your abilities.  Sometimes I struggle just like everyone else to meet my goals and stay motivated, but you have to remember that life is all about what you make of it.  The harder you push the more you can expect to gain.  I try to make it a goal to push myself as hard as I can and be stronger than I was yesterday, or even a year ago.  I have so many things I want out of life, but I taught myself to take it day by day.  Yes I have goals, but those goals can only be met if I take each second, minute, hour and day to push ahead to be the best version of me.  I am truly blessed to have such a great support system.  You have to find the right people to have in your life to be your support system.  It doesn’t have to be family, it can be the hand chosen friends that you picked to be your support system.  Life is all about the choices you make and the more you try the better you can expect to be.  Keep setting goals, and don’t be hard on yourself if you don’t always reach them.  Goals are not meant to stress you out, they are meant to help you work towards something.  You may not always reach that goal, but if you keep setting those goals, eventually you will start meeting them and then you will have the life you always wanted.  Best of luck to all of you who are motivating yourselves to reach goals and I hope that you don’t ever get discouraged along your journey.”

What Motivates David McDermott

I have thought about this for a while now. First, and foremost, what motivates me is the faith I have in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. However, I am nowhere close to perfect and fall way short every single day.
What motivates me most after my faith, is my family, and kids in particular. Every move I make, every breath I take, and everything I do is based on how it will effect them and my family unit as a whole. When I say everything, I actually do mean everything, whether it’s needs, wants, and especially time that I give to my family.
There are things I want, like a new truck, or a bigger tv, but those are just things. I make sure my children’s needs and wants are taken care of before I even consider myself and my own wants and needs. I drive a vehicle with almost 220,000 miles on it, with no a/c to confirm that. Yeah, I could work a few more hours and maybe I could get those things I personally want, but they are just things and things are never more important to me than my family.

What’s most important to me, what motivates me the most is the time I get with my family.

A little back story about me, you see, when I was growing up, my parents divorced when I was 10. When that happened, time was all that mattered. I did not want more things, I wanted more time with my dad. Don’t get me wrong, I have the greatest mom ever who did everything she could, but every kid needs their father.

Since becoming a father myself, I’ve been reminded that, aside from Jesus Christ, nothing is more important than time with my children. After all, we only get one chance at this wonderful thing called parenthood, at being Mom’s or Dad’s. No matter how much one works, you cannot buy back even one second with your kids. Once the time is gone, it’s gone forever. It’s never been said on one deathbed; “I wish I had one more day at the office.” It’s more like, “I wish I had more time with my family and kids.” So in a nutshell, what motivates me most is not just my kids, but spending as much good, quality time I can with them!

Some of David’s Goals

Weekly Goals

On a weekly basis what motivates me most is providing for my family while at the same time spending as much time with them as possible. Being a driver for UPS, that can be difficult at times, but that is where my faith in Jesus comes in. I firmly believe He will provide both.

Monthly Goals

My monthly goals include simply meeting my responsibilities….making sure the bills are paid so my kids can do their extracurricular activities.

Yearly Goals

Finally, on a yearly basis, it’s all about setting aside a few weeks every summer to spend good, quality time with the family on vacations or stay-cations. As you can probably see, spending time with family is what is most important to me, and ultimately is the biggest motivator in anything, and everything I do.

Final Notes & Advice

The best advice I can offer is to just think about the legacy you want to leave for your children. What they learn from you….good, bad, or indifferent….they will carry with them for the rest of their lives and pass on to their families.

Proverbs 22:6

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

Being a Photographer, A Mother and a Wife by Katie Gove

Here is an interview I did with a talented photographer named Katie Gove of Williams Gove Photography, about what motivates her to be the best version of herself and the best career woman, mommy and wife.

How do you balance your business, your two beautiful children and still be a good wife?

I don’t (She laughs), I take it day by day and what I see that needs to be addressed will be addressed at that time. Whether it be cleaning the house, taking care of a sick child, or being able to edit while the kids are at school or taking a nap.

What Motivates you to get out of bed every morning? and why?

My kids and my business. Cause my kids need food, clothes a roof over their head and I can’t give that to them without going to that 30 minute session and giving it my all.

Do you set daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals for your business and your family?  If so what are they?

For my family I set daily goals, they are very easy like make the kids happy that day, clean the kitchen, or do the laundry.  From a business stand point I try to do monthly and yearly goals.  Monthly would be let’s try to shoot X amount of sessions in that month or X amount of photo sales within that month.  Yearly company goals are to take a workshop or two, and strive to be that much better of a photographer.

Do you find that goals help you to motivate yourself? and why?

100% yes.  It keeps me accountable and on track.  I feel that if I keep goals, its not about reaching them, its about the fact that I tried and will keep on trying to reach them.

Do you believe that you worked hard to get to where you are or do you feel that most of it fell in your lap?

Oh no, I worked very hard to get to where I am today and while I had help in the form of babysitters, financial help here and there and referrals, 95% of what I have today is because I did it on my own.

Is there anything you wish you could go back and change? As it relates to business or family?

Umm… Honestly I don’t think so.  If I had to do it all over again, I would probably do it the exact same way.

What advice can you share w oithther people who are learning to get motivated and set goals?

Don’t give up.  You might not always reach those goals, but at least you tried and give yourself a pat on the back for that.

Final statement from Katie:

Just strive to be your best and only you can tell you what that best would be for yourself.

I want to take a moment to thank Katie for sharing intimate details about how she motivates herself to be the best version of herself.  I have known Katie for many years and I have seen her work go from okay to unbelievable.   She is a glowing example of a woman who works so hard to be the best at what she does.  She even juggles being “Basically” a single mom, while her husband works and goes to school all week.  They made this sacrifice for their family but that doesn’t make it any easier.  She truly is a great motivator as she prospers through her career and gives strength to the people around her.  I wish you so much luck Katie.  You are only going to get better at everything you do because you have the motivation and the goals in place to make it happen.
